My Heart is Like a Zoo by Michael Hall

My Heart is Like a Zoo by Michael Hall

"Welcome to the zoo! Twenty animals are waiting for you---
some are familiar, some may be brand-new.
What are they doing? How are they feeling?
Are they friends of friends of yours?
Come on in and say hello!"
________________________________________________

"Eager as a beaver,
steady as a yak,
hopeful as a hungry heron fishing for a snack ..."

This book was such a treat to the eyes! This book is about several different animals that were drawn using heart shapes. This is a must for story times. Children will love the colors, shapes, and short rhyming descriptions for each animal.

The shapes, colors, and words are so beautiful! Children will enjoy finding the heart shapes for each animal as well as the colors and descriptions. Children will be familiar with most animals and some of the older children will recognize some of the popular descriptions that are used to describe the animals in this book. For example, "Snappy as a crab, angry as a bear, bothered as a bull with a hornet in its hair." and "Cool as a penguin, crafty as a fox, quiet as a caterpillar wearing knitted socks!" This book is a must have for all families with small children and for school and public libraries. This book book will make for a memorable and exciting storytime for young age children. I only wish I was still teaching because I would have a blast introducing the students to "My Heart is Like a Zoo!"

I loved this book so much that I didn't want it to end... However, the ending was quite clever and delightful!
"Cozy as a clam, chatty as a jay,
tired as a zookeeper who's had a busy day."

When you read this book, you will understand my joy at having the opportunity to discover this lovely... warm and fuzzy invitation the the zoo..::))) How brilliantly created!!!!!!!!!
Until the next time................

Happy reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A children's book a day, keeps the scary monster away!
