The Librarian from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler and Jared Lee

THE LIBRARIAN FROM THE BLACK LAGOON

Story by Mike Thaler
Pictures by Jared Lee

Someone returned "The Librarian from the Black Lagoon to the library" and I had to check it out. This story is eye catching and hilarious! As a librarian, I had to see if we shared any similarities... Am I the librarian from the black lagoon?????? Hmmmmm...

The illustrations are so funny and make the book even more interesting and funny!!!!!! I was drawn to this book because of the title and the pictures!

What a creative way to begin a book, "Today our class is going to the library. We've been hearing some really scary things about the place."

We learn that "Mrs. Beamster is the lilbrarian. The kids call her "The Laminator." She is this huge scary monster lurking about just waiting to eat some unsuspecting students visiting the library.....

"They say she laminates you if you talk in the library." Hmmm, I am a librarian and reading this made me quake in my boots.......

"She has a library assistant named IGOR.... "Oh, my....he's a three-eyed dragon...." Wonder what he eats for lunch?????????

"They say you're allowed to stay in the library as long as you can hold your breath. Some kids last as long as a minute..."

What do you think happens when you run out of breath?????????????

Are you taken to the infamous "DECONTAMINATION ROOM????????"

"Next you go through the GUM DETECTOR."

"They say the shelves are electrified..." Would you to take a book off of the shelf?????????

Go ahead.... You can do it........

There are additional events that take place.... For example, "Mrs. Beamster subscribes to three magazines: The Mortician's Monthly, The Complete Pamphlet of Zip Codes, and Spots Illustrated: The Magazine for Cleaner Laundry."

After all of these adventures... The students finally enter the library and meet the real Mrs. Beamster...

Is the a monster or a friendly, loveable, knowledgeable librarian who loves students who enter her wonderful library?

You'll have to read and see for yourselves!!!!!!!

Happy reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until the next time!!!!!!!!

A children's book a day, keeps the scary monster away!
