Dr Martin Luther King Materials

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

There were so many events for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

I wanted to include one of the most popular books at all of our libraries on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by David Adler and Illustrated by Colin Bootman

From the Holiday House Reader series, this volume briefly introduces Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil rights leader. Adler points out not only King's childhood experiences with racism but also the values his parents taught him: self-respect, dignity in the face of injustice, and the power of ideas and words. This brief biography chronicles the main events of King's life and goes on to include his death and his legacy as "a powerful man of peace."

This is a wonderful introduction to the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that chronicles very important events in his life.

The pictures are colorful and expressive. The words are large and easy to read and understand. There is a Contents page that includes:

  • Young Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • Martin's Father
  • The Montgomery Bus Boycott
  • A Powerful Man of Peace
  • Free at Last
  • Important Dates
  • Sources

This is a great way for young children to learn about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I found this book quite delightful to read. I would recommend this book for any day care, school, public, home, or other library.

Let us know your favorite books on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and I will add them for next year.

Until the next time!
