BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, is an annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated annually in the United States and Canada in February and the United Kingdom in October.
I created a Black History Month PowerPoint for the Squirrel Hill Branch of the Carnegie Library that includes several heroes and sheroes.
Some of the heroes/sheroes include: Ida B. Wells, Oscar Micheaux, Paul Robeson, Mae Jamison, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Marion Anderson, Carol Mosely Braun, Benjamin Banneker, Elijah McCoy (Real McCoy), Charles Drew, Mary McCleod Bethune, Madame C. J. Walker, and Garrett Morgan.
The History Channel has a plethora of resources for Black History Month. Here is the link:
Check back periodically as I will be adding more information throughout Black History Month!
