NAPTIME
by iRiS DE Mouy
All
the animals on the savanannah are grumpy--no, they will not take a nap!
But one little girl knows just what to do to make sure these creatures
get some much-needed shut-eye

I am in the Children's Librarian at one of the Carnegie Library branches today and just came across iRiS DE Mouy's most delightful book....NAPTIME
In this book, animals both large and give excuses for not wanting to take a nap. The drawings are in black, yellow, green and some orange. The drawings are quite nice. The book is light, happy, and fun! It is such a great book for story time when you are trying to entice the children to take a nap. I love the drawings, color, text, and the book overall.
The book begins with a zebra saying " I DON'T WANT TO HAVE A NAP."
An alligator... "NAPS ARE FOR LITTLE BABIES.."
A rhinoceros... "TINY LITTLE BABIES."
The elephant..."I''M TO BIG TO HAVE A NAP."
The pelican/flamingo (with it's head in the ground)... "I'M NOT EVEN HERE."
The antelope... "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR A NAP."
Can you guess what the lion said?
"KINGS DON'T TAKE NAPS."
You will have to read this fun, incredibly written book to learn what the other animals are saying about taking a nap... and the young girl who finally coaxes them into taking a much-needed nap!
Until the next time!
Happy Reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A children's book a day, keeps the scary monster away!
